A leading astrophysicist described the increased visibility of the Northern Lights across large swathes of the Northern Hemisphere as ”special” after a strong solar storm on Friday night (May 10). The Northern Lights, also called the Aurora Borealis, were seen around the world on Friday from Russia to the United States, as the Earth experiences the biggest geomagnetic storm due to solar activity in two decades.
