Mumbai residents flocked to the beach to cool down as India’s regional meteorological center issued heatwave warnings for the financial city on Sunday (April 28), with the mercury hitting 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 Fahrenheit).

Coconut water seller Sarjan Choudhury is among those hit hard by the sweltering heat with the cost of his coconuts going up during the summer months.

Along the pier, roadside fishmonger Sheetal said she was selling her goods at a loss. /”We’re sometimes forced to sell fish that costs 1000 rupees (12) for 200-300 rupees (2.40 to 3.60) to finish them off as they don’t last long because of the heat./”

The extreme heat and humidity is expected to last till Tuesday (April 30) in Mumbai and some of its surrounding regions.
