China urges the Philippines to respect facts, honor the commitments and stop provocations, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin in Beijing on Monday. In a statement released on April 20, Philippine’s National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano said this administration is not aware of any secret or gentleman agreement with China and if there was such done under a previous administration, the same has been rescinded. China insists a ‘common understanding’ has been reached not only with the previous administration, but also the current Marcos administration on the handling of the Ayungin Shoal issue.
