Spain’s national weather agency AEMET issued a red heat alert, the highest warning, in the region of Valencia, in eastern Spain on Saturday (July 20) as the country officially experienced its third and last day of an intense heatwave that has pumped thermometers beyond the 40C (104F) mark in many parts of the country, especially the south.
