Sinabi ni Senate Committee on Basic Education chairperson Sherwin Gatchalian na tatapusin niya ang kanyang termino sa Senado. ‘Yan ay matapos umano siyang irekomenda ni Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero para sa posisyon bilang bagong kalihim ng Department of Education #DepEd.

“I still have four years for my mandate and was voted by 20 million Filipinos in 2022 to serve a six-year mandate. So, I still have four years to go and I plan to finish all of those years,” ani Gatchalian sa programang #Storycon ng One News.

Ayon naman sa senador, mayroong partikular na mga katangian na dapat hinahanap sa susunod na mamamahala sa ahensya.

“Three qualities that come to my mind. Number one is you need to know the problems and you also need to know the solutions right away. There’s no more experimenting, there’s no more time to do the consultations. You should’ve been doing the consultations a long time ago,” ayon kay Gatchalian.

Aniya, dapat ding may karanasan sa pamamahala ng isang malaking ahensya katulad ng DepEd para malaman ang dynamics kung paano ito pamunuan.

“Third, you also need to have the passion for education. A lot of solutions are outside the box, not the usual business as usual. You need to have that advocacy,” dagdag ni Gatchalian. #News5
