The Mayor of Pola in Oriental Mindoro strongly opposes the end to the oil spill response in the province. Mayor Jennifer Cruz says she refused to sign the declaration since traces of oil and tar balls are still washing up on their shoreline.

Airport authorities conducted a full scale crash rescue exercise Friday morning. The simulated crash involved a mock-up aircraft designed to resemble a real-life passenger plane, which was intentionally set on fire to create a challenging scenario for the participating rescue teams from the Manila International Airport Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine National Police.
