Bongbong Marcos na nag-uudyok sa Pangulo na mag-impose ng special safeguards sa rice imports para protektahan ang mga lokal na magsasaka mula sa negatibong epekto ng pagbabawas ng taripa sa mga inaangkat na bigas.

Para kay Danilo Fausto, pangulo ng PCAFI, hindi nakikita ni Pres. Marcos ang maaaring idulot ng pagtapyas ng rice import tariffs tulad ng pagbaha ng imported rice at pagkalugi ng mga lokal na magsasaka.
