As Mercedes fights to keep the true cause of Cristine’s death hidden, a new discovery threatens to bring the truth to light. Meanwhile, Rafael publicly defends Moises’ innocence, exposing both his and Jaime’s wrongdoings. Tensions escalate as Jaime confronts Rafael about his betrayal, but Rafael’s determination to fulfill his responsibilities as a father outweighs his loyalty to Jaime as a son. Enraged, Jaime threatens retaliation. Eleazar warns Rafael about the full extent of Jaime’s plans for revenge. As Rafael is being transferred to a new detention center, his convoy is ambushed by Jaime’s armed men. Following the attack, Rafael escapes with Moises and his family, though his life remains in grave danger.

As Mercedes discovers that Rafael is conducting his own investigation into Cristine’s murder, an old threat to Moises’ life reemerges.

After his escape, Rafael becomes a wanted fugitive, with Jaime showing no mercy toward his once-adopted son. In Jaime’s eyes, Rafael’s betrayal has turned him into a sworn enemy. Meanwhile, Justin’s anger toward his father intensifies, and Mercedes grows anxious as she discovers just how much Justin knows about their secret.
