August’s full moon, a ‘supermoon’, rose behind the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion in Greece on Tuesday, the first of two supermoons this month. Stargazers gathered around the ancient marble temple, located on a cliff above the sea south of Athens, to view the spectacle. Supermoons are full moons that come closest to Earth’s orbit, making them seem larger and brighter.
