Strong winds and high waves battered the island coastline of Japan’s Okinawa prefecture on Wednesday (August 2). Power lines were also hit, knocking out electricity to more than 200,000 households on Wednesday morning, as the powerful and slow-moving typhoon Khanun neared the country’s southwestern islands.
