On The Scene: Six teams of craftswomen from different parts of Turkmenistan compete in the annual carpet felting contest called “Beautiful Pattern”. The teams used several materials from wool, which is cleaned, loosened, dyed, and combed to reeds (reed), on which the pattern of the future felt mat is laid. This contest is aimed to familiarize the younger generation with Turkmen’s national values.
