On The Scene: Dai people and tourists in southwest China’s Yunnan Province started celebrating the annual water-splashing festival on Friday. The water-splashing festival is regarded as one of the most important festivals observed by the Dai people in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture and Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. During the festival from April 13 to 15, people splash water on one another, wishing happiness and good fortune.
