On The Scene: The small Lebanese village of Rachaya al-Fakhar takes its name from the artisanal pottery workshops for which it is famous. For generations, this traditional craft was common among residents, who took pride in their town’s produce. But the country’s many struggles over the years, including a civil war in 1975, followed by conflicts with Israel in the south and descent into economic turmoil, took a toll on Rachaya al-Fakhar and its famous craft.
